For Our Community

Helping Those in Need

We believe that part of our devotion to God includes helping those who are in need and less fortunate than ourselves. 1 John 3:17-18 says “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

At Hills, we believe that every Christian should cultivate a heart of helping those who are in need. As we go through this life, our response should be “see a need, meet the need as we are able.”

In addition to the church being taught to live out their faith in this way, to help in our local community, Hills collects and donates food and other resources to Pullman's Community Action Center. They run an active food bank as well as housing and homeless assistance that serve over 14,000 people in need in Whitman County. Members or attenders at Hills Church can pick up one of our designated bags, purchase the specific non-perishable items listed, and return the bag to Hills so it can be delivered to the Community Action Center. Once there, all donated food will be distributed to those most in need in our community. We have found this to be a practical way to remember those less fortunate than ourselves, and to help those who are in need in a relevant and impactful way. It is our hope that each member at Hills will grow and cultivate a heart of helping and loving those around them in our community.
